ScottishPower & Neslam Farm Project

Most wind farm developments are years in the making creating the impression that "nothing" is happening.  We will endeavour as best we can to keep you on track and up todate with the latest plans and any progress that is being made.

July 2008

The following information (a series of 5 images) provides an overview of the proposed project as detailed by ScottishPower in the leaflet sent to residents.  Note the map on the leaflet was not to scale and DOES NOT illustrate the close proximity of this project to the many residential properties in the area.  The photomontages on display at the exhibition DID NOT include the cumulative impact of the Donnington/Bicker windfarm and residents were therefore left to draw their own conclusions as to just how the landscape will look with both windfarms clearly visible from many viewpoints in the area.

 Jan 2008

Hayes McKenzie are analysing the results collected from the background noise survey.  Once they have done this they will be able to produce a turbine layout which conforms to ETSU-R-97, the industry accepted guidance on wind farm noise levels.  They will then reconsult with South Kesteven District Council's Environmental Health Officer. (Below are a couple of links for you to read up on  ETSU-R-97)

  • ESTU-R-97 - Why it is wrong
  • Barhill Windfarms

Assuming that the developers are able to propose an agreeable layout for the turbines they will continue with their works which are dependent upon the final turbine positions including producing photomontages and trial pit digging at turbine foundations.

IBERDROLA expect these works to be competed by April/May of this year.  They then intend to hold a second public exhibition(to show that they are involving the community !!) before they submit the planning application and associated Environmental Statement (ES)

  •  Nov 2007

Additional properties targetted for noise monitoring equipment to be installed.  IBERDROLA have appointed Hayes McKenzie as consultants in acoustics.

     Sept 2007

Meteorlogical mast erected at Neslam Farm.

     Nov 2006

    Full planning conditionally approved

     April 2006

Application for the erection of a 50m steel meteorlogical mast submitted to SKDC - S06/0487
